There usually comes a point in a business owner’s journey when working harder is no longer the answer.

Your business may be growing, but you’re still involved in everything. Important decisions are stuck in your head. Things slow down without you, and problems always land on your desk. The prospect of taking the next step feels further away than it should.

Whether you’re planning for the next growth phase, working less, retirement, or eventually selling the business, a strategy day can make a real difference.

Our bespoke Strategy Days are designed for businesses turning over from £250,000 to £5m plus, particularly those that need deeper financial insight and could not employ a full-time Chief Financial Officer because it does not make commercial sense.

Take the business out of your head

The day itself is deliberately different from a normal meeting. We get your key people together in our office, away from phone calls and emails, so they can focus on making decisions that will move the business forward.

First, we establish where your business is today and, more importantly, where you as an owner want it to go. We also discuss why.

Then we get into the details. We look at profitability, contracts, systems, structures, people, performance, and the decisions that could make the business more efficient and more valuable.

A big part of the conversation often involves your key people – and how to reward them by creating meaningful incentives, improving performance and giving senior managers genuine responsibility for the future.

We also start to get the business out of the owner’s head, turning your knowledge and decisions into processes, responsibilities and predictable ways of working.

By doing this, we can reduce the reliance on you as an owner and create a business that is stronger, more scalable and potentially more valuable as a result.

Real progress comes from accountability

Although a formal Strategy Day can be a powerful catalyst for new direction, it is not the end of the process. Accountability is where the real value is created.

We leave the day with a clear action plan, specific responsibilities and targets to achieve in three and six months. We also then use board meetings and regular reviews to keep everyone focused and make sure the agreed actions actually happen.

Because there is little point in spending a day creating a brilliant strategy if nobody follows through afterwards.

Ultimately, the aim is simple: to help you build a better business that works harder for you.

Whether your ambition is rapid growth, more free time or an eventual sale, the right strategy can help turn that ambition into a business that operates on its own to maximise its value.

Move your business forward

If you need help turning intention into action, get in touch and let’s move your strategy forward together.
